Christian Military Wives Update

By Patti Katter

C

hristian Military Wives will be hosting their second annual Patriotic Christmas Ornament Exchange this year.  Special thanks go out to Kim Newman for setting up this event for the ladies of the Christian Military Wives Message Board.

*The main Christian Military Wives website has a new look, be sure to check it out!

*CMW membership level on the message board has almost reached 400.

*The Power of a Praying Parent interaction starts back up in January.  During this activity, the women from our message board will be studying the book “Power of a Praying Parent” and compare notes and thoughts online at the designated message board spot.

*On our message board, we have been discussing toys we grew up with - be sure to join in on the fun!

*Christian Military Wives adopted two military families for Christmas this year... thank you to our “Christmas Elves” for helping, now two families in need will have a blessed Christmas!

 *Recipe of the month

Christmas Popcorn Balls (photo attached if you would like to use it).
 12 c. popped corn
 1 c. light corn syrup
 1/2 c. sugar
1 (3 oz.) pkg. strawberry or lime Jello

In 1 quart saucepan combine corn syrup and sugar. Cook, stirring with a wooden spoon over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Without stirring, bring mixture to a full boil. Remove from heat and add Jello; stir until dissolved. Pour syrup mixture over popcorn and toss to coat well. With lightly buttered hands, form into balls. Place on waxed paper to set at room temperature. Makes about 1 1/2 dozen balls.

Should there be leftovers, these balls will keep for several weeks.

Patti is a stay at home mother of 3 (by choice), married to the man of her dreams.  Patti's husband served in the USMC/Force RECON for four years, worked as a Civilian Police Officer for many years and is currently in the US Army, due to purely patriotic reasons. Patti totally supports her husband’s career choices, and has used nearly every opportunity to put a positive spin on almost any situation she and her family has faced in life.  This includes uprooting her family to move to unknown destinations, dealing with her husband being deployed to war for 15 months, being a supportive friend and mentor to other military wives while still dedicating herself to raising her children full time.  Patti has over seventeen years of journalism experience, writing for newspapers such as THE FLINT JOURNAL, BellaOnline.Com, as well as owning and operating a newspaper/ magazine in Michigan, POSITIVE ATTITUDE.
