A Haitian Dream
Heart of God in Haiti

“Let this be written for
a future generation, that
a people not yet created
may praise the LORD.”
(Psalm 102:18 NIV)

A

lmost all the Haitians have one dream.”  Although this statement is quoted out of context, it gives us hope for the nation most known for its poverty, orphans, and desperate need for an encounter with the Living God.

The April/May report received recently from Heart of God in Haiti also brings us much hope; it is filled with evidence that men, women, and children are truly encountering the One True God. Lives are being eternally changed.  This kind of change can indeed impact a nation and lead that nation to realize a dream.

Heart of God in Haiti has a dream to see everyone come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  But, this dream is unique because it’s not one that’s soon forgotten.  Every day effort is made to realize the dream by sharing the Gospel with many. Hear the heart of Dicksent in Haiti:

The school needs a lot of work as we don’t have a structure.  Helping for Christ Christian Day School is doing a lot of things for the poor people. It changed a lot of lives and it made a lot of people become better. We have a lot of families who have their children in the national school who want to change them and have them come to Helping For Christ Christian Day School for the tuition and the Bible education we give in our school.  Almost every day people are coming to us and ask us if they can have a place for their children next year but the only problem is that we have those people; they are all poor and won’t be able to pay the minimum tuition.

I’ve been helped a lot in my life. God is always watching me even while I was not His. Haiti needs people to lead them to the Lord. A lot of Haitian people believe in voodoo. I want to change their mind and have them know that God loves them a lot. He is powerful and if they are His, satan will never be able to harm them.  I want Helping for Christ to become a mission where I can help a lot of people, give them tuition, shelter, Bible education, and let them know that Jesus is the Christ and they will have a place in paradise if they accept Jesus as their personal Savior.

Dicksent had much more to say, but can tell his heart through this small portion of the most recent report.  Helping For Christ was established under the direction of Dave and Julie Young.  They carefully oversee the work in Haiti and provide the necessary guidance, advice, and accountability for the indigenous ministry.

Keep this ministry in prayer as Dicksent and his team continue to build the school and share the love of Christ in the midst of wickedness and unbelief.  Pray that their dream and vision for Haiti continues to grow as God uses them for the increase of His kingdom and the display of His glory!
